Beeswax Candles: an activity for children of all ages. The following activity is a guest post written by Jennifer Naraki. She can be found on Instagram @jennifernaraki. In this activity, children will learn how to make candles using beeswax.

Bees bring such bountiful blessings to us! Not only do we rely on their gift of pollination, which is an enormous gift in itself, but they just keep giving! Their beautiful gift of honeycomb, provides us with both honey and wax. Honey is a delight to eat, add to baking or sweeten drinks, such as tea, with.  Beeswax has many uses, one of which is making candles. Before electricity was invented, candles were necessary to provide light when it was dark. Though not as much of a necessity today, candles provide a warm, cozy, calm atmosphere. They are a delight to have burning when the sun has set for the day, and darkness falls upon us. Not only do they create an inviting space, natural beeswax candles are said to be a natural ionizer. That means when they burn, they purify the air of dust, pollens, odors, toxins, and more, while leaving a light, sweet honey scent in the air. Our family enjoys not only burning beeswax candles, but making them too! There are several ways of doing this. We prefer to order a kit online, from Amazon, which includes beeswax sheets and wicks. Making the candles is so simple.
